This helped me learn faster! I recommend Kanji Words for anyone studying Japanese or living in Japan and trying to figure this place out. Thank you!

Yup, It doesnt seem like its been updated in a while. You can still get the stories from the website, but this is convenient. My god it crashes a lot.

Unfortunately, it only shows first primitive of every kanji.

They cover buttons at bottom of screen. Cant figure out a way around it.

It would be really great if you could also tell us how these words are said in Japanese :)

Perfect to learn your kanjis. In about 15 minutes I already knew about 10 kanjis. Thanks a whole lot!

If you are using Heisigs Remembering the Kanji, aka "RTK" than this app is for you. There is also another app, the official version thats available, but it has an outdated list of kanji. This app has the latest list from the 6th edition of the RTK book. The app is essentially a list for reference, but there is also an import and input function for kanji stories to help in memorization. I would like to see an upgrade that would include a flashcard review, a "random" flashcard option, but the app "as is" does an excellent job as a reference tool.

Im VERY impressed by the number of kanji, and the stroke order is invaluable!! Wish it came with some stories preloaded though.

This is a perfect app to incorporate kanji studies via RTK. That way I no longer have to clutter my Anki RTK cards with stories hidden in the background (white text behind white background) which btw is impossible to highlight and see when doing reps via Ankiweb (I dont have Anki app; expensive :O ) What would make this app even better is if there was an option to make the order match the 6th edition :) overall great app for us iPhone user who use Ankiweb or other free srs

I was expecting this app to give me some sort of story to help me remember the kanji. Instead, it just stores the stories you make for yourself. This might be useful for ppl taking a class, but is not very helpful for self instruction.

Its great to have the RTK kanji list. But other than that, theres not much else. Theres NO substitute for physically writing kanji to aid retention and penmanship, using an app as a shortcut hurts your learning. And the app is pretty much crippled till you pay up. Not going to use ios keyboard for entering stories. Kudos for the effort - but no thanks. Itd be far more useful to have a searchable kanji dictionary (by stroke, radical, on/kun) by my side while I practice on paper.

Dont be discouraged by the other reviews. This is a free app, that will allow you to study all 3000 kanji included in Heisigs books. The ads are not distracting at all, and the layout is very conducive to studying. A great alternative to the overpriced "official" app.

Im happy to have an app related to Remembering the Kanji, but I find myself wondering what Im supposed to do with it once Ive entered the stories. It would be great if future updates could include some kind of review or flashcard options. I hope thats in the works.

I think this is a beautiful app. I have been using it for a week and was very excited about it. But, suddenly, all my work is gone! The edit button doesnt work and all the stories, etc are gone. Please help. I want to continue to use this app.

I highly recommend the RTK method, and I highly recommend this companion app. Sometimes the online community has the best stories, especially for the really hard kanji. If you are having trouble thinking of a story, dont be afraid to look find inspiration from other people!

It has a lot of the kanji and some of the stories are more helpful than others.. Some of the stories are funny and some of them are really worth remembering.
